The Platinum Jubilee 2022
Below is a summary of all the events that the Town Council are aware of that are due to take place over the Jubilee Weekend from Thursday 2nd June 2022 to Sunday 5th June 2022.
Irthlingborough Town Council are planning on decorating as much of the town as possible with bunting knitted by local residents and groups within the Town. We are hoping to have enough to decorate Parsons Green, The Rest Gardens and the Cross.
We have requested that, if possible, St, Peter's Church be flood lit in red, white & blue to mark the occasion.
On Thursday 2nd June
10am – The Methodist Church are live streaming the Trooping of the Colour followed by refreshments
All Day – Irthlingborough Cricket Club are holding a Jubilee Family Fun Day with activities all day including a royal afternoon tea.
9.30pm – The Town Council ask that you join them on Parsons Green for the lighting of the beacon. The Town Crier and a bugler will be joining us to light our beacon at 9.45pm, this will coincide with 1,500 beacons being lit throughout the country.
On Saturday 4th June
The Town Council are holding a Platinum Jubilee Market on Parsons Green. There will be a brass band playing and the stalls will be decorated to celebrate the event.
IGrow will be holding a Royal Jubilee Treasure Hunt, packs will be available the week before to download or collect from businesses in the town to guide you on a trail around the town.
The Methodist church will be holding a Platinum Jubilee themed coffee morning.
We know that the High Street traders will be decorating the High Street with jubilee flags and adding to the occasion.
At 3pm there will be a FREE Jubilee Play by Laugh Out Loud Theatre Group sponsored by the Town Council in the Community Centre, with an ice cream van and magic show available.
On Sunday 5th June
St Peter's Church are holding a service at 10.30am and will be open on the Sunday afternoon decorated with red, white & blue flowers and flags of the commonwealth with teas being served.
Please keep a look out on the local noticeboards and social media. Any events that we are notified of will be advertised through these channels.
We hope that whatever you choose to do to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend, everyone has a lovely time creating their memories of this special event.
