A45 Chowns Mill Improvement Scheme update.

From Monday 6 September the Chowns Mill junction will be controlled by the new traffic lights system, traffic will travel through the new A45 central carriageway and the A6 Bypass / Higham Ferrers traffic will travel around the gyratory of the new 'half hamburger' island.

The new traffic light system will operate on the latest technology, it takes up to three months for the system to learn from data to operate traffic at maximum efficiency. The pedestrian crossings will not be in use until later in the month with customers advised to continue to use the free 24/7 shuttle bus.

From 6 September, please take care using the new roundabout layout. Overall the project is still on track to be completed by Winter 2021 /22.
