Cut it Out Domestic Abuse Campaign

Cut it Out Domestic Abuse Campaign

In 2019 Northamptonshire Police launched the "Cut It Out" Campaign – aimed at raising awareness in the hair and beauty industries around domestic abuse and how to support and signpost victims.

The messages we seek to convey via the #CutItOut campaign have never been more pertinent, and as such, we have expanded the campaign awareness sessions for anyone who wishes to take part.

The lockdown has increased report of domestic abuse - between April and September 2020, Northamptonshire Police recorded 7,607 domestic related incidents. This is an 11.4 per cent increase on the previous year.

During the summer period after the COVID lockdown (June – August 2020), domestic related incidents were 14.3 per cent higher than in 2019, reflecting the national impact of COVID-19 restrictions on domestic abuse victims.

Nationally, support services and charities have also received significant increase in calls relating to domestic abuse.

The #CutItOut campaign is ongoing and the support and messages we need you to share are as important as ever, as local businesses and employers and those who come into contact with the public on a daily basis.

You can help us do this by being alert to any signs that clients might be experiencing abuse – physical, emotional or psychological - and signposting them for help and advice to the county wide services in your pack.

Let's all work together to #CutItOut

We will be holding two virtual sessions – completely FREE – for anyone that wishes to take part.

Friday 26th March 10.30-11.30am

Wednesday 31st March 7.30 – 8.30pm

Please email CutItOut@northants.pnn.police.uk with your details and preferred time and the link will be sent directly to you.
