Council receives Community Champions Award

Along with the Food Bank and Community the Town Council has received a Community Champions Award from ACRE.

The food bank was in huge demand. They frequently gave out 2-3 parcels a day compared to the usual 1 or 2 a week. Whilst their pantry was already fairly well-stocked, we received many food and money donations. Regular cheques from Thrapston & Raunds Rotary Club, a weekly delivery of food items (bread, milk, potatoes, carrots etc etc) from Morrison's every Thursday morning, and people filled all the usual donation bins in the shops as ever. Many residents came in with carrier bags of food.

The Town Council supported the town throughout the pandemic, donating £500 to the Covid-19 support group, financing the fogging of the public toilets when they re-opened, providing hand sanitisers outside said toilets, at the outdoor gym and alongside the play equipment and skate parks, and has done its best to interpret Govt guidance in order to protect the residents of the town.

Arrangements for Remembrance Sunday 2020

Irthlingborough Town Council have taken the extremely difficult decision to scale back the service on Remembrance Sunday this year. The event could not take place in its usual format as it is always so well attended and social distancing measures apply as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Two small Civic ceremonies will take place, these will be held on Sunday 8th November 2020 at 11am and Wednesday 11th November 2020 at 11am. These will be led by the Mayor but due to COVID restrictions will not be public events.

The Council are asking all those that wish to lay a wreath to attend the War Memorial at a time of their convenience between 11:15am on Sunday 8th November 2020 through to the morning of Wednesday 11th November 2020.

The Council very much appreciate your understanding during these difficult times and are taking this hard decision to try and keep you and your loved ones safe. We ask that social distancing is observed at all times and those wishing to pay their respects are mindful of allowing others the chance to do the same.

The Council requests that you stay safe and 'Remember at Home'. If you wish to pay your respects and remember with us feel, free to step outside your front door at 11am on Sunday November 8th for the 2 minutes silence.

Further information will follow as plans and guidance may change up to a few days beforehand.
