
Cllr Dorothy Maxwell
I am Dorothy Maxwell. I worked as a teacher in secondary schools, colleges, and at Wellingborough prison. I still teach Year 1 children as a volunteer.
I am a volunteer at Islip Pavilion, encouraging children to participate in different sporting activities, which include years7,8,9, 10, 11, under 18 and 21s. I am also secretary for an adult local football team. Besides this I set up in door classes in Art, Yoga, Zumber, Choir and WI.
I set up free tennis at Spencer Park and provided tennis rackets for the children. In 2021, using ENC Members' Empowerment Fund, I supported the installation of a concrete table tennis table in Spencer Park.
For the past 6 years, I have been on ENC Council and been involved with major planning applications and helped with the Rushden Lakes development. I am a very committed, proactive Councillor, who is always keen to help local residents. In the new North Northamptonshire Council, I will continue to support local needs and make sure that the voice of my ward residents is heard. I feel that we need we need address the bus service in this area to encourage a more connective services to Rushden Lakes and other areas.
